My role is to assess the environmental fate and effects of pesticides to support regulatory active substance renewals and product registrations in the EU. My particular interests include chemical–soil interactions, movement of chemicals into surface water and groundwater via drainage, run-off and leaching, and mathematical modelling. I apply my expertise to the development of customised solutions to regulatory problems. This includes examining model input parameters, higher-tier modelling solutions and mitigation options to reduce exposure. I have supported the development of regulatory guidance, for example on pesticide leaching through structured soils, degradation kinetics and aged sorption.
