Philippa Rickard, PhD
Environmental Modeller and Risk Assessor
I joined Enviresearch in March 2019 as an Environmental Modeller and Risk Assessor. My primary role is to determine the fate of plant protection products in the aquatic and terrestrial environments, in line with EU and national guidelines. Previously, I completed a PhD in Marine Biogeochemistry at Newcastle University and was awarded a first-class (with distinction) honours degree in Environmental Science from the University of York.
My PhD research focussed on the photochemistry of surface-active organic matter at the air-sea interface, and the implications for mass transfer between the oceans and atmosphere. For which I co-ordinated and completed field and laboratory work in the UK, and collaborated with international multidisciplinary research teams during wider field campaigns. Effective communication is particularly important to me, and I also spent some time as Editor of Newcastle University’s science communication magazine.
I love the outdoors, and spend my spare time searching out esoteric parts of Northumberland (and everywhere else!) to climb rocks.
