Louise Pope, PhD
Senior Environmental Modeller and Risk Assessor
I have worked for nearly a decade in environmental risk assessment and this has provided me with expertise across a range of regulatory disciplines, including; plant protection products, biocides, pharmaceuticals and veterinary medicines. This work involves exposure assessments employing a range of environmental fate models (from first-tier focus models to higher-tier approaches) and assessments of potential effects on the receiving environment (ecotoxicology). An area of expertise is in the more challenging risk assessments which may require refinement of the risk assessment using suitable higher-tier approaches. I also have a particular interest in the assessment of substances for potential endocrine disruption.
I have a PhD in the Environmental Risk Assessment of veterinary medicines from the University of York, an MSc in Environmental Biogeochemistry from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and a degree in Environmental Science from the University of Manchester. Before working for Enviresearch I worked as an Ecotoxicologist at a leading personal care products company and as a fate scientist at FERA (formerly Central Science Laboratory), a UK government research laboratory.
