Environmental modeler and risk assessor

MY ROLE

I joined Enviresearch in May 2019 as an Environmental Modeller and Risk Assessor. I perform FOCUS modelling of the fate and behaviour of plant protection products in the environment, as required for national and EU product registration and renewal.

BACKGROUND/CAREER HISTORY

I have an environmental science and biology background with broad experience in ecotoxicological studies, in particular laboratory activities targeting biological stress assessment, field data collection and ecosystem monitoring. During my PhD I investigated the ecotoxicity of sunscreen products and their active ingredients on tropical marine organisms.

QUALIFICATIONS

I have a PhD in Environmental Toxicology from Heriot-Watt University, a MSc in Marine Biology and BSc in Biology from Universitá Politecnica delle Marche in Ancona, Italy.

HOBBIES/INTERESTS

In my spare time I enjoy cooking, reading thriller and fantasy books and listening journalism podcasts about historical figures or moments. I love travelling and explore new countries, I am also a PADI Rescue Diver and have experienced recreational and scientific diving trips in Italy and tropical locations.

SPECIFIC EXPERTISE

Standard and higher tier ecotoxicological risk assessments. FOCUS modelling to calculate PECs in surface water and sediment, soil and groundwater according to EU and country specific requirements. Dossier preparation according to the current EU and national guidelines.
