Have your say: HSE opens survey on application of guidance for non-dietary human exposure to PPPs authorized for professional use in the Great Britain
HSE has launched a survey for feedback on proposals to adopt the new EFSA guidance1 concerning non-dietary exposure assessments for professional use plant protection products (PPPs) in Great Britain (GB).
New EFSA guidance on performing non-dietary human exposure assessments of PPPs for operators, workers, residents and bystanders was published in January 2022, and has applied in the European Union (EU) and Northern Ireland (NI) since 1st January 2023.
Currently this means divergence of the applied guidance in EU/NI compared to GB where the previous 2014 EFSA guidance2 remains relevant at present. However, HSE are understood to be of the view that the changes introduced in the 2022 EFSA guidance are scientifically justified and propose it should be implemented in GB.
Prior to making any final decision on adoption of the guidance, HSE has released an 18-question online survey seeking feedback on the proposed changes in the EFSA guidance. To respond to the survey, click here.
If you require further information about the changes made in the 2022 EFSA guidance, HSE have also published a summary review of the changes that the 2022 EFSA guidance introduces, which can be accessed here.
The deadline for submitting responses to the survey is 20th February 2023.
A date for when the guidance may be adopted in GB is still to be announced.
