Andrew will provide expert regulatory and environmental risk assessment services for chemicals to governments, researchers, chemical companies and other interested parties.  He has extensive experience and expertise in many areas of chemicals regulation, particularly agrochemical and biocide regulation, environmental fate, ecotoxicology and environmental risk assessment, gained from working in academic research, in the agrochemical industry and with a government regulatory authority.

With this broad range of expertise, Andrew is in an excellent position to offer the following consultancy services:
•    Regulatory strategy and advocacy
•    Independent registerability assessment
•    Client representation to regulatory authorities

Andrew has worked in the field of chemicals safety and regulation since 1972.  Prior to his position as Principal Scientist for Environmental Fate at the UK Pesticides Safety Directorate (from which he retired in January 2005), he worked for 14 years in the agrochemical industry in the area of safety assessment and regulatory affairs, with positions in the UK and France.  He obtained a BSc and PhD from the University of Reading.

His work has allowed Andrew to gain a very wide experience of many different aspects of pesticide usage, behaviour and safety, together with an in-depth knowledge of chemical safety legislation on an international basis.  Andrew has experience of a wide range of chemical types gained over more than thirty years working in this area, and he is able to advise clients at every step of the regulatory process.  Throughout his time working in this area, Andrew has built up a reputation for his positive and even-handed approach, supporting good science with well-considered regulatory argumentation.
