Sabine Beulke, PhD

Senior Risk Assessor / Modelling Expert

I joined Enviresearch in September 2015 as an Environmental Risk Assessor / Modelling Expert. My role is to assess the environmental fate and effects of pesticides to support regulatory active substance renewals and product registrations in the EU. With a degree in Horticulture, I studied for my PhD on the degradation and sorption of herbicides in soils at the regulatory authority for pesticides in Germany. Since 1997, I have worked for Cranfield University and FERA (formerly Central Science Laboratory) in York, UK as an Environmental Fate Scientist and Modeller.

My particular interests include chemical-soil interactions, movement of chemicals into surface water and groundwater via drainage, runoff and leaching, and mathematical modelling. I apply my expertise to the development of customised solutions to regulatory problems. This includes examining model input parameters, higher tier modelling solutions and mitigation options to reduce exposure. I have supported the development of regulatory guidance, for example on pesticide leaching through structured soils, degradation kinetics and aged sorption.

In my spare time, I enjoy exploring the UK and love the Yorkshire countryside.
